Next 10 is working with the California Air Resources Board, UC Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the California Energy Commission, the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association, and the U.S. EPA to create a comprehensive carbon footprint calculator for use by individuals and businesses. The calculator will rely on user inputs to estimate greenhouse gas emissions for individuals or households based on everyday activities. It will also provide information on ways to reduce these emissions.

To help us develop the most user-friendly and valuable California Carbon Calculator, we ask that you please try out and comment on three beta versions, which are available at www.coolcalifornia.org.

After you have visited at least one of the three beta sites, we encourage you to visit our online survey that will take less than four minutes to complete here or at www.coolcalifornia.org.

Your comments will help us as our team proceeds to develop a single integrated calculator specific to California that is easy to use and provides users with information to support low carbon choices. We would appreciate receiving your comments by December 15, 2007. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Henry at sarah@next10.org or call 650-321-5417.

Thank you,
